Kappale on omistettu tyttöjen voimalle ja ilolle, joka sytyttää valkeatkin palamaan. Laulu on kuin kohtaus kesäillasta, jossa ensin kokoonnutaan yhteen, tanssitaan valon ja varjon leimutessa kokkotulilla ja sitten päivän noustessa kiirehditään kotiin ilon ja riemun saattelemana.

Miina Marttila kertoi sanoja laulettavan “Juhannuskokolla ennen kuin kokko sytytettiin” ja Volmari Porkka kuvaili Kati-akalta tallentamiaan sanoja käytettävän “Ilta-valveilla. Helatuorstaista Iilian pyhään se on Elok. 1 päivään (v. l.) asti tytöt yöllä kävelivät pitkin kylää ja lauleskelivat "ikkunoja" möite omia virsiänsä.”


The song is dedicated to the power and joy of girls, which is so strong that it even lights the bonfires. The song is like a scene from a summer evening, where first we gather together, dance around the bonfire with lights and shadows flickering and then when the morning comes, we hurry home with a light and springy step!

Miina Marttila said that these runolaulu words were sung "at the Midsummer bonfire before the bonfire was lit" and Volmari Porkka described the words he recorded from Kati-akka, old woman Kati, as something the village girls used at the evenings from Holy Thursday to the first day of August, the day of St. Ilia, when they walked around the village at night and sang their own songs so loud that you could hear it even through the windows.
